The Valhalla Murders Plot: What is it about?
The Valhalla Murders introduces us to police profiler, Arnar, who is transferred from Copenhagen to Reykjavik to help apprehend a serial killer, who is plaguing the streets of Iceland. The murders involve senior men who have all been brutally tortured and then slain. After arriving in Iceland, Anrar is teamed up with senior inspector Kata, who is not at all pleased with the interference.
However, the duo is compelled to set their differences aside and trace the killer before time runs out. They catch a teen who was discovered leaving the murder scene of the second victim. The cops get more suspicious when they uncover that the boy is not revealing everything he knows. As the investigation proceeds, it is found that the murders are interlinked to the past — when an old child abuse case emerges from the 80s — which is connected to current child abuse that is happening in Reykjavik. But the question is, how are both the cases related?
The series gradually sheds light on the inner struggles of the central characters. We learn that Arnar was a victim of physical abuse when his father discovered he was gay. On the other hand, Kata is still dealing with her drug addiction. The whole story is about how the past can come back to haunt you anytime and you can never truly escape your memories.
